In this Love Note from the Journey, Marcia from Waterloo, Ill., shares some forthright words of wisdom she received from her father, and talks about becoming a stronger person through her journey. Thanks, Marcia!
“I was diagnosed with stage IIB breast cancer in September of 2007. In my darkest hours while going through chemo and radiation, I just remembered the words my father said when he heard I had cancer, that ‘in life, just like in a game of cards, you have to play the hand you are dealt,’ and that I should do that and come out a winner.
I also was brought up in a Christian household, so I had faith that believing in God and prayers would see me through this and it did.
I believe having breast cancer made me a stronger person and I also believe in living life to the fullest and never putting off for tomorrow what I can do today.”
