Mary Hart—TV personality and former host of Entertainment Tonight—knows the devastating effect that breast cancer can have on women and their families. Her grandmother passed away from breast cancer when her mother was young, and years later, she saw her mother suffer from a rare form of the disease, and survive.
“It’s hard for me to think of anyone who hasn’t been affected by breast cancer. It’s so pervasive,” she said during a recent interview with Women’s Running magazine.
For those reasons, she’s now dedicating her time and attention to helping forward our mission to end breast cancer. And, as the national spokesperson for the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation, she’s using more than just words—she’s also lacing up for the cause.
On February 22, Mary will be representing TeamEdith™ at the Women’s Running San Diego Half Marathon and 5K benefitting Edith Sanford. She’ll be joined by more than 2,000 women of all ages, including our president, Kimberly, on a beautiful coastal course that starts at Liberty Station and runs along Shelter and Harbor Islands in San Diego, Calif.
“There’s a camaraderie that is infectious that allows you to run farther or walk faster than if you did it alone,” Mary told Women’s Running.
It’s not too late to join her, but hurry! Registration for San Diego ends February 16.
